SUMMARY:SFLives Livestream: Journalist Denise Sullivan in conversation with Dr. Saidah Leatutufu-Burch
DESCRIPTION:Independent reporter Denise Sullivan brings the SF Lives series to Bird & Beckett for a Sunday morning livestream. This month’s guest is Dr. Saidah Leatutufu-Burch. We expect a wide-ranging discussion on the legacy of local Black history\, community organizing\, economic justice and the November San Francisco ballot. \nDr. Sai (Sy) is a Black and Sāmoan San Franciscan\, organizer\, cultural orator\, economic mobility strategist\, and liberationist. She is the Founder of Economic Emancipation LLC. and SLB Strategies—a social impact-focused consulting firm committed to equipping organizations with the tools and strategies necessary to drive sustainable change and achieve bold impact. Her work is guided by a core belief: “Liberate with love. Transform with power.” \nThe SFLives Project\, a series of candid conversations with San Francisco’s artists\, activists and free thinkers\, was conceived as a print media column by Denise Sullivan for the San Francisco Examiner where it ran from 2018-2022\, then transitioned into a live-streamed conversation\, produced by Jenna Littlejohn\, for Bird & Beckett. Past editions are archived on the Bird & Beckett YouTube channel. \nhttps://denisesullivan.org/about/

SUMMARY:Haymaker - a Ben Goldberg joint
DESCRIPTION:NKT debut album cover art by Molly Barker \nBen Goldberg\, clarinet.\nMatt Robidoux\, electronics.\nDavid Ewell\, bass.\nTim Bulkley\, drums. \n$20 cover charge at the door (cash\, please) /  byob\nStudents $10\nFor a reservation\, call the bookshop at 415-586-3733 \nBen Goldberg pulls no punches\, and has been pulling tricks from various bags for three and a half decades\, publicly. It was 1990 when he\, Dan Seamans and Kenny Wollenson sprung the New Klezmer Trio on an unsuspecting world. No doubt\, there were earlier shenanigans we haven’t been told about; and many rivers have been crossed since. \n \nHere’s the grand vizier’s brand new bag\, prospectively great we’re certain–in cahoots with some likely co-conspirators\, viziers of their own realms and tricksters all. \nKnock on wood.
