3 events today!
Noon: Haight Ashbury Literary Journal
2pm: Ron Jones, The Third Wave
4:30pm: The Cottontails

We open at 11 a.m. Sunday, and in no time we’re off and running with events. At noon, contributors to the Haight Ashbury Literary Review celebrate the new issue of that august rag; then, at 2:00pm, renowned local educator/writer/storyteller Ron Jones, who seems the most unassuming soul you could imagine, comes in surfing the tsunami of attention being generated by the German-made tv series “We are the Wave.” Ron created a high school experiment in fascism that roiled the waters of placid Palo Alto in 1967 and that’s never lost its impact or relevance. Once you’ve shed your wet suit, you could do worse than cut loose with our favorite little jump band, the mighty Cottontails, 4:30-6:30pm! A post-Thanksgiving tradition at Bird & Beckett…

oh, and Jerry Ferraz will squeeze in an hour of his flamenco-tinged guitar and and timeless song before the noontime poets take off.

6:30-7 is just about getting the band packed out and sending the rest of you home happy.
At 7, we lock up and call it a day.

for more detail go back to the homepage and scroll down…or just roll down to the shop and let us take you on a ride. Our friend Ross would approve.

We hope you’ll scroll though, and keep going. Take note of Monday night’s poetic and musical rumble with Avotcja, Tony Aldarondo and a passel of musicians, concluding with our classic poetry open mic! If anybody wants to send a turkey over, we’ll feed the poets. We only ask that you cook it first… Doug?

All in all, we suspect there are few spots quite like Bird & Beckett this Thanksgiving weekend… we’re grateful for what we’ve got and the folks that come out for the culture and neighborliness, and those that toss a few bones our way so we can keep on opening the doors to all comers.  New folks and 20-year regulars and everyone in between, you make it what it is. Oh, and the talent. We particularly appreciate the talent (including those who are here just (just!) through the books). Thanks, one and all. We do love you madly.

The Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project

Our events are put on under the umbrella of the nonprofit Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project (the "BBCLP"). That's how we fund our ambitious schedule of 300 or so concerts and literary events every year.

The BBCLP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit...
