Two poets, long-time friends, descend on Bird & Beckett this evening. Timotha, from her home a stone’s throw away and Bob, from elsewhere.

Timotha, chodpa, gate player, has pilgrimaged in Tibet, Nepal and India following the footsteps of Machig Lapdron, an 11C female Buddha/saint. She has climbed to 14.8 thousand feet to sit in ancient, sacred, buttery caves with her sangha.

She is a life-long torchbearer and priest on Hekate’s path.

She practices Vajrayana Buddhism and western magic traditions every day.

In the past, she has been a gun carrying revolutionary working in solidarity with the African People’s Socialist Party. She now participates in the movement to abolish prisons and the death penalty.

She is queer.

These are the myths, identity markers, signposts on the trail of an authentic life. You will not see them.

She has published the broadside Taboo and a chapbook, Bahamian Journal.

Timotha lives in San Francisco with her husband and the sustaining love of amazing beings like Fang and countless friends.

Bob’s poetry may be seen as coming out of a modernist magical tradition. His verse has appeared in numerous publications including Sulfur, Notus New Writing, House Organ, Compound Eye, Open Space Magazine, and Poetry Dispatches. His first major collection of poems Wandering On Course was published by Spuytin Duyvil Press in 2013. And a portion of his long poem in progress “Intersecting Visions Vision Intersects” was released by Bullhead Books in January of 2019 along with the broadside, The Figure In.

In October last year the 2nd revised edition of Bob’s The Sacred Alignments Sigils, was just released by North Atlantic Books. This monograph explores the complex relationship between sigils, John Dee’s Enochian Magick, telluric influences and the corporeal. Bob is currently at work on part II, The Aetheric Alignments.

Bob regularly gives readings as well as lectures and conducts workshops on occult theory and methods as well as poetry and the esoteric influence in literature. He was the writer in residence at the Gloucester Writer’s Center in Gloucester, MA during May of 2014. And in fact he will be conducting a lecture / workshop here on Saturday the 15th at PantheaCon: The Body as Poem and Sigil.
