Scott Foster has had the 3rd Friday slot at Bird & Beckett for years and always brings a great night of music, every outing an experiment — though the results are always guaranteed to be a joy. This time out he’s turned the beakers over to Tom Hassett, to see what the lab will produce when Tom’s mixing from behind his kit. Seems a sure thing!

“A stealth member of the SF Bay Area jazz community for over 20 years,” Tom’s often been here behind his kit in the Lost Trio, his long-time experiment with Phillip Greenlief and Dan Seamans, and with Times Three, a trio with Paul Mindrup and Scott Chapek. Both of those trios will be in here in the not so distant future. But now’s the time for this quartet of the moment.

Tom & Scott’s mutually esteemed colleagues Dan Seamans and Jim Peterson will join the date — musicians delightful in countless ways.

Given the way things go, it wouldn’t be a surprise if these four were converging for the first time tonight.
However the elements combine, it’s impossible
to imagine that the experience will be anything but fun.
