A skillful conveyer of the great lucidities: poetry, art, parable, history, myth; he was also a disciplined expositor of ancient meditative techniques. A stranger in a strange land, a voice for the voiceless, and a humble monk. Martin Luther King nominated him for the Nobel Prize, back in 1967. He credited Nhat Hanh’s influence as one of the factors in his decision to publicly oppose the war in Vietnam.
