But nothing beats being in the room with the music & the musicians!

The Third Quartet
jazz in the bookshop
every Friday evening
without fail!
On the third Friday of each month, a quartet made up of series founders Chuck Peterson (tenor sax), Scott Foster (guitar) and Don Prell (bass) augmented by drummer Ron Marabuto or Omar Aran (this month it’s Omar) holds forth from the Bird & Beckett stage while the neighborhood parties on! Frank Phipps (marching trombone) sits in for Chuck this week.
Folks who made it to our “Big Bash at the Clubhouse” a few weeks ago and who stayed to the end will recall the lovely bass & trombone duo performance that Don and Frank gave us to wrap up a really lovely afternoon. If you didn’t hear that, then you have all the more reason to get down to the store this evening for a reprise…
In any case, the music and the ambiance on these Friday evenings never fail to please the assembled multitude, so do make the effort to come down and hear for yourself. You’ll go out into the summer night recharged and refreshed and ready for the weekend.
P.S. The kids dig it too– so feel free to expose ’em to America’s classical music at Bird & Beckett; they’ll happily browse the kids’ books while you take in the music.
And one more thing: there’s no cover charge, but unless you’re broke, out of work or just living on a shoestring income, bring some dough for the musicians–it’s how we keep the whole thing going. Your largesse covers for those who can’t quite spare what it takes at the moment. And the musicians get their due!
