The Lenny Carlson Music Collective

January 22, 2027 @ 7:30 pm

The Lenny Carlson Music Collective is a unique chamber ensemble that performs Carlson’s
original compositions along with standards. His musical directions converge in the genre of
Americana, blending Jazz, pop, folk, and classical.

A Los Angeles native and award-winning composer, Carlson has also been an accomplished jazz
guitarist, producer, music professor and author. Since 2009, he has been resident composer for
Jeff Sanford’s Cartoon Jazz Orchestra.

The Collective’s premiere performance at Bird & Beckett on 1/22/27 will feature Kevin
Gerzevitz, piano; Michelle Maruyama, violin; Carla Wilson, bassoon and Luke Kirley,
tuba/euphonium. Kevin Gerzevitz’s compositions and arrangements will also be performed.

Carlson’s recent discography includes the title and three additional selections on Jeff Sanford’s
Playland at the Beach CD (2023), available on Spotify and Bandcamp; Down by the Riverside:
Theme and Variations CD (2022) on Bandcamp; and Nothing Wrong (2019), a Cartoon Jazz CD
comprised entirely of his compositions, on Bandcamp. Carlson’s suite Four Sketches for My
Mother (2022) appears in the S.F. Public Library’s 2026 Bay Beats music collection.

The Bird & Beckett performance will be streamed live on Bird & Beckett’s YouTube channel
and Facebook page. The YouTube stream can be found at this link:
