Tate Swindell/Thomas Antonic on Allen Ginsberg/William Burroughs

The well-oiled machine that is the road show of two intrepid archive divers, San Francisco’s Tate Swindell and Vienna’s Thomas Antonic, reaches Tate’s home base with a program built around the recording of Allen Ginsberg 1980 Graz, Austria poetry event with Peter Orlofsky and musician Steven Taylor dubbed “America: Give A Shit,” now a 2026 double lp release on Swindell’s Unrequited Records label, and Antonic’s recently published book, The Three Wives of Queer William S. Burroughs (Beatdom, 2026).

Tate and Thomas have lately been presenting programs focused on the Ginsberg lp in Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Graz. Thomas was last heard at Bird & Beckett in January 2022 presenting his previous book, Amongst Nazis: William S. Burroughs in Vienna 1936/37. Tate is well known to San Francisco beats, baby beats and post beats for his production of cultural materials — books, lps, readings, concerts — derived from his archive explorations and personal contacts with the likes of Harold Norse, Gregory Corso, Neeli Cherkovski and countless others through the past couple of decades.
