Scott began composing a tune a day from the start of the lockdown in March, and so has a thick sheaf of material. Towards the late summer, he began laying down recordings of some of that material. We’re looking forward to seeing where he is in the process.

He’s been a Bird & Beckett stalwart, in many ways the heart and soul of our ongoing jazz programming, since the beginning, when we first started presenting jazz on a weekly basis back in late 2002.

With the exception of a few hiccups in the opening months of the pandemic, he’s held down the third Friday booking for years, and enjoys the admiration of a legion of fans. When gigging is a thing (that is, when live music performed for physical audiences is happening), we works with a regularly with a number of bands including the Americano Social Club and B3B4 and any number of other ad hoc aggregations, and he’s also an admired educator, heading the music department at San Francisco’s Urban School.
