Jeff Marrs, drums

It was Michael’s appearance on our stage for an audience of several on March 13, 2020 that launched our first tentative steps toward the Bird & Beckett live stream. Check this little facebook live test, shot by our own Angie Bennett on a borrowed iPhone. We made do with that approach until Nico Mesa came along and set us up with our current gear and Angie moved over to become a remarkably talented sound engineer. The live streams are much more beautiful to view and listen to now, though the musicianship, spirit and soul have always been there. All along, we’ve kept it going, week after week after week.
Please do tune in this evening!
These are fine players, pleased to be sharing the stage and playing for you.
Michael Zilber is a formidable talent. Follow this link and learn more!
And don’t take the live stream for granted! Donate what you can to help us pay the musicians. They’re professionals who have been underemployed for the past fourteen months, and we’re committed to a $600 guarantee for quartets in these tough times. That’s a high bar, what with folks being not terribly accustomed to offering money for what they take in on YouTube and Facebook… We can’t begin to express how much we appreciate your support.

We pay a “guaranteed fair wage”
of $150 to each of the artists performing
in our live streams
and you are the first ones we look to in order
to get that money together, so please do what you can!
We are extremely grateful as well to the many individuals
in the community who donate to our nonprofit
Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project (the “BBCLP”)
to help us build up the general fund from which
we augment audience donations when necessary!
Monthly donations are particularly helpful.

We also thank and gratefully acknowledge
the City & County of San Francisco’s Grants for the Arts
for operating support of the Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project!
Our events are put on under the umbrella of the nonprofit Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project (the "BBCLP"). That's how we fund our ambitious schedule of 300 or so concerts and literary events every year.
The BBCLP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit...

Gigging musicians! You have nothing to lose but your lack of a collective voice to achieve fair wages for your work!
The IMA can be a conduit for you, if you join in to make it work.
