POETS! featured readers followed by an open mic, 1st Thursdays, hosted by Michael Koch & Jerry Ferraz
     Kimi Sugioka, is a Japanese-Scots-Irish-American poet, songwriter and educator, who navigates the many injustices she encounters through poetry and song. She is the current Poet Laureate for the City of Alameda, a post that includes creating platforms for the presentation of a diverse variety of poets and spoken-word artists.
David Holper has published four collections of poetry, most recently Bord för En (Swedish for “Table for One”) (Broken Tribe Press), and one novel, The Church of the Very Last Chance (Deeper Magic Press). He served as the City of Eureka’s inaugural poet laureate from August 2019-August 2021.
Hear the featured poets, then stick around for the open mic. It’s always a surprise and a pleasure, and fortifying in dispiriting times.
