Monday, September 7, 7:30pm: Duo Changüísonico: José (“El Sinsonte”) Andrés + Kai Lyons. $20 cover. Students $10. The music of Guantánamo, Cuba, where José Andrés enjoyed a long and acclaimed career as El Sinsonte, “The Mockingbird,” de Changüí Guantánamo, admired for his supple vocal style and his quick witted lyrical constructions. Kai Lyons, tres and guitar virtuoso of San Francisco, a musicologist of great insight, has formed an abiding artistic bond with El Sinsonte, and their performances together in duo and larger ensembles are a treasure.
