CANCELLED – 3/15/20 Duo Violao + Trio Falsa Baiano concert

Duo Violão Brasil stems from guitarists Rogério Souza and Edinho Gerber’s reverence for Brazilian guitar, the violão, and their desire to explore and expand the musical possibilities of putting two violões together. With repertoire from composers like Pixinguinha, Baden Powell and Tom Jobim, the duo navigates effortlessly through the many styles of 20th-century Brazilian popular music while showcasing original works and inventive arrangements.

Ami Molinelli, co-leader of the Brazilian choro & jazz ensemble, Grupo Falsa Baiano, is a professional percussionist and educator specializing in Brazilian and Latin percussion, especially the pandeiro. Molinelli received her Master of Fine Arts from California Institute of the Arts and has studied at Universidade Federal da Bahia in Salvador, Brazil.

Last year, Molinelli collaborated with Duo Violão to release a collaborative album, A History of Choro, and to tour.
