Sunday, July 12th – 5pm-7pm
Two Happy Hours with Mitch & Joe!
Mitch Polzac & the Royal Deuces
with pedal steel maestro Joe Goldmark

Sundays at 5pm is our happy hour slot every week.  Stay for a tune, stay for two sets. Come when you like and leave when you like, and pay what makes sense to you. Bring something to sip if you like — but we have Hetch Hetchy’s finest reservoirs tapped if it’s water you’re craving. That’s on us! If you want to bring some comestables to share with your fellow revelers, we’ll set up a table to accommodate that!

The second Sunday of every month at 5pm, it’s our “Americana” slot, and today we’re pleased to present honky tonk, twang, classic and outlaw country music from showman, singer and guitar virtuoso Mitch Polzak with the duo he calls his Royal Deuces. You can catch Mitch & the Royal Deuces in rowdy bars throughout the American West and abroad as well. He’s big in Spain, we can tell you that! He’s recorded three albums there with his Spanish outfit, the Kaw-Ligas, on the Sleazy Records label, augmenting the five he’s put out here in California on his own label, Polzak Productions.

Bring a few bucks to spend at Mitch’s merch table. It helps him gas up that big ol’ Cadillac that gets him into town from his home out in Port Costa on the Carquinez Strait.

On Mitch’s thrice-a-year Bird & Beckett dates (the second Sunday of March, July and November)
, you’ll always catch him in the company of the Bay Area’s finest bass and drums practitioners of twang, with the pedal steel guitar whiz Joe Goldmark augmenting the trio. Joe’s the real deal, though even he’s the first to say he’s all hat and no cattle. A genius of the steel, that’s widely agreed!

$20 works best to help us pay the band’s guarantee, but do pay just what’s comfortable for you. We just want you to enjoy what Bird & Beckett has to offer and to get some relief from the Artificial (but very real) Insanity of the world.

We guarantee the musicians a fair wage regardless of what we gather from the audience. We thank our donor base for making that possible! Do donate to the nonprofit Bird & Beckett Cultural Legacy Project, a 501(c)3, if your finances allow, and join the legion that work to keep our head above water year round.
